A Montessori School Helps Out

Amidst the upheaval and turmoil of the recent flooding in Calgary, are many bright spots of spirit and cooperation.

Yesterday, one such bright spot was provided by the Montessori Children's House Academy.  In the true spirit of community, all available employees and family members came together in the wee hours and prepared over 300 meals to hand out to clean-up volunteers in one of the harder hit neighbourhoods.

They cooked in the kitchen and in the backyard.  :)

Then they loaded up the truck and headed out.

It took a while because many of the roads are still blocked and when they finally arrived, the devastation was difficult to comprehend.

Undaunted, the team found a good spot, set out the sign, and began handing out hot dogs, chips, drinks, hamburgers, and hugs.

Hats off to you, MCHA!

This does my heart good. My town was flooded a little over 3 years ago. The outpouring of support for the people who had lost their homes by the volunteers and the gifts of food and supplies from local groups was amazing. Glad to see the spirit of caring is alive and well in the Montessori community. Montessori school Grayslake IL

I'm so sorry you had to go through that, Al. I've just returned from a trip to Calgary and the mess is unbelievable. Couldn't get through it without the volunteers and gifts!
